The following is from current Representative Matt Towne’s Facebook account on June 19 at 12:38 PM:

“I specifically include the NRA and its members in this category.” (Towne’s comment in regard to the news-of-the-day quote below)

“Make no mistake the FBI working with our state and local law enforcement partners is all over this,” Wray said in reference to white supremacist violence. (Christopher Wray, testifying in US Congress)

This type of angry, inflammatory statement from a member of the party that demands tolerance is not uncommon amongst today’s left-wing radicals. Not only do these brief posts highlight one’s true beliefs, but in this case, Matt’s overly broad statement shows his ignorance on the subject.

The NRA is made up of individuals from just about every demographic you can imagine. From an article by Don MacDougal, an NRA instructor, the breakdown of their membership is approximately:

23% Democrats
40% women
40% minority
Average age 40-45

So, according to Matt, all democrats and women in the NRA are white supremacists? And the minorities (predominantly Hispanic and Asian) are white supremacists? Reminds me of an old comedy sketch by Dave Chapelle.

We all know NRA members. They come from every walk of life: firefighters, police officers, computer programmers, doctors, nurses, retail workers, your friends, your next-door neighbor.

Our Barrington citizens (Democrats, Independents and Republicans) deserve much better than representatives publishing hateful and ignorant statements. I look forward to earning your vote and re-election to the NH Statehouse.
