The following is a letter I received recently from a Barrington citizen. While I and others may not agree exactly with all the content, many Barrington residents share similar concerns. I publish it without edits or the individual’s name.
I am not a lawyer and did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express recently. I am an engaged citizen, a constitutional enthusiast, a husband, a father, and a public servant who sees things happening in the Live Free or Die state which shake me to the bones. And I will tell you that something smells rotten in the State of New Hampshire.
We have a governor who has curtailed our freedoms under the guise of public health. Some may say that this is what a noble leader does, but it is a treacherous road which never ends in liberty.
Some of us have a growing suspicion that Governor Sununu has not been forthright in the signing of his executive and emergency orders. Perhaps he has violated the public trust and his oath of office, even falsified state documents.
A google web search of the state website performed on June 26th, 2020 shows that Executive Order 2020-14 was available 4 days before it was supposedly signed. So, when did Sununu actually sign it?
Executive Order 2020-25 was supposedly signed January 1st in executive council chambers, which was a state holiday. It is entitled Executive Order 2020-25 rather than 2021-01. Is this a sloppy admission that it just might have been composed and signed beforehand? So, where and when did Sununu actually sign it?
If the governor’s imprimatur is proven to have been made on a different time and in a different place than on which his “hand and seal” attested, Sununu clearly bore false witness and testimony. A normal citizen cannot buy a home, open a bank account, or sign any legal documents without attesting truthfully as to the time and location of the signature.
Unless certain citizens are in fact more equal than others, he or she cannot pre-sign a check, deed, or affidavit, nor lie about where and when the document was signed. The document would be void and the citizen could be censured or face civil and/or criminal penalties. A notary or Justice of the Peace would be stripped of their credentials. A lawyer would be disbarred.
There should be an immediate investigation into whether each of the governor’s executive and emergency orders was attested to truthfully and within statutory timelines. A governor who skirts our constitution is a major problem. A governor who lies to the legislature, courts, executive council, and public by ignoring the rule of law is a blatant and egregious tyrant. The governor is not a king, nor is his signet ring inviolable.
We must cut to the quick. This is not an appeal to the constitutionality of executive and emergency orders, nor the limits of executive authority, nor whether rights come from God or Government. Those may be red herrings. This is about whether our governor lied to each and every citizen of New Hampshire “for our own good.”
