Last year, your NH State Republicans passed legislation that increased the percentage of state rooms and meals tax to be distributed to towns, totaling over $100,000,000! This resulted in Barrington receiving a 45% increase from $461,000 last year to $671,000 this year. These funds are in addition to the $100,000,000 that the state will NOT require towns to send in for property taxes. Over $200 million dollars net get gain to our towns. The question becomes: Will your (our) town use the money wisely…….the budget will tell.
